TEA WITH MAPPLETHORPE
Without planning on it, I ended up taking the summer off from 'Smile Heart Love'. Not that I am a huge poster anyway, but SHL is always on my mind as to content and ideas, purpose, practice and fun. My time and energy was redirected into some health shifts happening in my life. All better now - I'll go into that more later I'm sure. For now, I want to get back into the rhythm of posting.
During my SHL absence I did a lot of library visits (I still love going to the library) - primarily reading and researching flower photography, ikebana and Dutch still life painting. I really enjoyed Robert Mapplethorpe's book that accompanied his LACMA/Getty exhibitions. His view of people, life and nature was distinct and beautiful (although some found it controversial) . If you did not get a chance to see the exhibitions you can get a feel for it here and here.
Be back soon x
