DETOUR: EAMES HOUSE
The Eames House (also known as Case Study House No. 8) is great for recharging your mind and spirit. The only drawback is you cannot be spontaneous about it since reservations are a must! However, a little advanced prep is totally fine so that you can wander around this 20th century landmark nestled into a hillside with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean while you imagine what life there might have been like for the Charles and Ray. Although, I am not so keen on the quality of husband Charles was based on the documentary: The Architect and the Painter....But that is another story.
Unfortunately, accessing the interior (shoeless) is limited to a few reserved higher fee tickets. One day, I will tour the inside but for now I am totally happy soaking in the vista views, talking with others about the experience, roaming around two big grid based rectangles and peeking through all the windows.
