... I would love to see the Ellsoworth Kelly Plant Drawings at the Met. Although the Schiaparelli and Prada Impossible Conversations is more popular, I would makes sure I got over to see Ellsworth Kelly. His ability to distill the organic form to an emotional line takes my breath away. Then... on the other side of the bridge if it was a little early in the month I would have checked out the Keith Haring 1978-1982 at the Brooklyn Museum.
Above are sketches I did after visiting their exhibitions online. I attempted to draw my fiddle leaf fig tree in the spirit of Mr. Kelly and then I attempted to make a page in my sketchbook full of tiny little flowers (Mr. Haring used letters) and boy that was much more difficult that I thought, my version took me days and it's not even as impactful.
In more Kelly research I came across this really cool interview/slideshow about him. I love that it includes a photo of him in his studio - I think those environmental portraits say so much. ♡
