Over Thanksgiving weekend, I got to play for a bit under beautiful blurry sunlight. Everywhere I turned the light was just stunning - on the ocean, filtered through trees, highlights on asplahlt...I could go on. California November sunlight might just be my favorite. It has warmth but not too much and there's a crispness to it, at least that is how I see it. Crisp warmth, best between 2 and 4:30 and then transforms into lavendar dusk at 5 ish.
This observation started me down a road where I am thinking about sunlight/natural light more than usual - how could I express that blurry warm crispness I love so much in an illustration or photograph? Is it really the light, or is it what it reflects upon? Why do I like it so much? Why do I prefer it blurry? Who else is thinking about this stuff and can I get together with them and hear what they think. I got the idea to do a polaroid series on light, now off to try and find some polaroid equivalent film. (Please let me know if you have already founds some good stuff. )Love the simple things in life, blurry sunlight is one of them ♥
